Bauer, Gerald D.

Shipmate Gerald Bauer of 466½ Penn Street, Pennsburg, PA, a member of the Reading base went on Eternal Patrol in August 2003. He qualified on the USS TENCH SS-417 in November 1961. His wife Constance survives him.

Shipmate Charles Harold Bunting made his final port of call Dec. 28, 2001. He was a member of the Reading Base and will be missed by his family and friends. He resided at 150 Laurel Ln, Pottstown, PA 19465.

Kappes, James D.

Shipmate James D. Kappes reported on eternal patrol in the fall of 2001. He was a member of the Reading Base. He resided at 517 Faith Dr., Catasauqua, PA 18032.

Korman, Kermit

Shipmate Kermit Korman, 554 E. Hight St., Bellefonte, PA 16823-2228 went on eternal patrol June 2001. He is survived by his wife, Barbara. He was a member of the Holland Club (#503) He will be missed by his wife and shipmates.

Schaffer, Martin F.

Martin F. Schaffer of Allenton, PA was called by the Supreme Commander to his last duty station Jan. 2, 2002. Martin was a Life Member of USSVI and a Holland Club member. He was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War and retired from the Naval Reserve in 1979 after 35 years service. Martin was founder and current president of the Lehigh Valley Chapter of Submarine Veterans WWII. He will be missed by his shipmates at the Reading Base, USSVI.
