* Exported from MasterCook * Turnip Greens and White Bean Bake Recipe By : Serving Size : 4 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Beans Casseroles Vegetables Cajun Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 4 sl Bacon -- crisp, crumble, save -1-1/2tb drippings 1 1/2 lb Fresh turnip greens -- trim, -wash, drain, cut 1" strips 1 lg Onion -- chop 1 tb Fresh ginger -- mince 1/4 To 1/2 ts crushed pepper -flakes 14 1/2 oz Cn Italian seasoned tomatoes 15 oz Cn great Northern beans -drain 1 c Cornbread -- crumble 2 tb Butter/margarine -- melt Cook onion, garlic, ginger and pepper flakes in reserved drippings over med-high heat, stirring often, 3 minutes or until tender-crisp. Add tomatoes; bring to a boil. Gradually add greens, stirring after each addition until leaves wilt. Cover and cook over med-low heat, stirring occasionally, 10 minutes or until tender. Stir in beans. Spoon mixture into a lightly greased shallow 1-1/2 qt baking dish. Combine cornbread and butter; sprinkle over casserole. Bake at 350~ for 25 minutes.
