                            Swedish Apple Cake

     1/2  cup           Shortening
   1      teaspoon      Baking soda
   1      cup           Sugar
   3      cups          Apples; peeled -- chopped
   2                    Eggs -- beaten
     1/2  cup           Nuts
     1/2  teaspoon      Salt
                        ***topping***
   1 1/2  cups          Flour
   3      tablespoons   Butter -- melted
   1      teaspoon      Cinnamon
   3      tablespoons   Flour
     1/4  teaspoon      Cloves
   1      cup           Brown sugar

Recipe by: Sue Klapper Preparation Time: 0:25 Heat oven to 350. 
Cream shortening and sugar.  Add eggs, salt, flour, spices and soda. 
Fold in apples and nuts. Pour into greased 9 x 13 pan and bake for 25 minutes.
While this is baking, mix together topping ingredients. 
Spread over hot cake at once. 
 Return to oven and bake 15 minutes more.
