                        German Spaghetti Casserole

   1 1/2  pounds        Hamburger
   3                    Slices bacon -- cut lengthwise
   1                    Large onion -- chopped
                        Salt
                        Pepper to taste
  16      ounces        Tomato sauce
  28      ounces        Tomatoes -- *
     1/3  cup           Sugar
     1/2  pound         Elbow spaghetti -- **

* drained and chopped; (reserve juice) ** cooked and drained 
Brown and drain hamburger. 
Lightly cook bacon; retain fat and cook onions until transparent.
 Salt and pepper hamburger to taste. 
Add bacon; onion; tomatoes and juice, tomato sauce, and sugar to hamburger
 Simmer 30 minutes. Add cooked spaghetti.
 Put into large, greased casserole and bake 1 hour at 350 degrees.
