* Exported from MasterCook * Layered Mexican Casserole Recipe By : Serving Size : 8 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Beef Casseroles Tex-Mex Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 1/3 cups Sour cream 1 1/3 cups Cottage cheese -- small curd 1 package Taco seasoning mix 2 pounds Ground beef -- -=OR=- 1 lb ground beef PLUS -- 1 lb hot sausage 1 small Onion -- chopped 15 ounces Tomato sauce 1 1/2 cups Salsa -=OR=- picante sauce 1 tablespoon Chili powder 1 teaspoon Salt 10 ounces Doritos -- salsa flavored 2 cups Mexican cheese blend -- shred Preheat oven to 350~. Combine sour cream, cottage cheese and taco seasoning packet; set aside. Brown ground beef and onions. Add tomato sauce, salsa, chili powder, and salt. Crush the Doritos. Reserve 1/3 cup. In a greased 9x13" pan, layer the casserole. Start with crushed Doritos, meat layer, sour cream mix layer, then 1 cup shredded cheese. Repeat layering. Sprinkle reserved 1/3 cup crushed Doritos over top. Bake 25-30 minutes or until hot and bubbly. NOTE: Mexican cheese blend is by Kraft or Sargento and comes in a packet already shredded .
