* Exported from MasterCook * Tigers Bite Chili Recipe By : Serving Size : 1 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Chili Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 4 1/2 Tb chili powder 1 Tb New Mexico chili powder 2 1/2 Tb cumin 1 Tb paprika 1 Tsp onion salt 1 Tsp garlic powder 1/4 Tsp oregano 1/2 Tsp black pepper 1 jalepano pepper -- chopped 1 Small onion -- chopped 1 Tsp salt -- to taste 14 Oz canned beef broth 6 Oz beer 8 Oz tomato sauce 4 Oz canned green chilis -- chopped 1 Small green pepper -- chopped 2 1/4 Lbs cubed beef 1/2 Lb ground beef Mix all dry spices together. Brown meat, drain excess fat. In a large pot, mix broth, tomato sauce, chilis and chopped vegetables. Bring to a boil. Add 1/2 c. of spices and the meat. Cook 1 1/2 hours. Add additional spices and cook 1 hour longer until thick. Each year, The Lark restaurant in Farmington Hills, Michigan sponsors the "Michigan Chili Cookoff". This years competition (the 18th) was won by Ray Frederick of Farmington Hills. He represented Michigan in the World Cookoff in Reno, Nevada on October 3.
