* Exported from MasterCook * Nan McRobert's Frosty Strawberry Squares Recipe By : Great Desserts of the South Serving Size : 12 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Desserts Fruits Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 cup All-purpose flour -- sifted 1/3 cup Brown sugar -- packed 1/2 cup Walnuts or pecans -- chopped 1/2 cup Margarine 2 cups Fresh strawberries -- sliced 1 package frozen strawberries 1 cup Sugar 2 1/2 teaspoons Fresh lemon juice 2 Egg whites 1 cup Whipping cream -- whipped Whole strawberries Preheat oven to 350. Combine flour, brown sugar, nuts, and margarine and spread evenly in a 13x9x2 inch pan. Bake 20 minutes, stirring occasionally until mixture is crumbly. Remove one-third of the mixture and press the remaining crumbs evenly into the pan. Combine the strawberries, sugar, lemon juice, and egg whites. Beat at high speed approximately 10 to 15 minutes or until light and fluffy. Fold the whipped cream into the strawberry mixture. Spread over the crumb mixture.
