                          James Beard's Brownies

   4      ounces        Semi sweet chocolate
   2                    Eggs
   1      cup           Maple syrup -OR-
   2      cups          Brown sugar
   1      cup           Flour -- sifted
   1      teaspoon      Vanilla
     1/2  teaspoon      Salt
     1/2  cup           Walnuts -- chopped

Combine all ingredients, except walnuts and blend until smooth. 
Add walnuts and pour batter into a greased and floured 9x11" pan.
 Bake at 325~ for 30 minutes.
DO NOT OVERBAKE.
