* Exported from MasterCook * Texas Cream Pie Recipe By : Serving Size : 8 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Chocolate Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 1/2 cups Milk -- scalded 3 Egg yolks -- beaten 1/2 cup Sugar 1/8 teaspoon Salt 1 tablespoon Plain gelatin 1/4 cup Cold water 3 Egg whites -- stiffly beaten 1 1/2 teaspoons Vanilla 1/2 teaspoon Nutmeg 1 9" pie shell -- baked 1/2 cup Heavy cream 4 tablespoons Sugar Semisweet chocolate -- grated Cook milk, egg yolks, sugar, and salt in the top of a double boiler over hot water, stirring consatntly, until the mixture coats the back of a spoon. Add gelatin dissolved in cold water and cool. Fold in beaten egg whites and add vanilla and nutmeg. Pour into baked pie shell and chill. Whip cream and flavor with sugar.
