* Exported from MasterCook * Caldo Gallego (Spanish Bean Soup) Recipe By : Serving Size : 1 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Soups & Stews Spanish Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 1/4 pounds dried garbanzo beans 1 tablespoon salt 1/2 pound ham -- cut into chunks 2 quarts water 4 ounces salt pork -- slice thin 1 chopped onion 3 med potatoes -- quartered 2 chorizos Wash beans thoroughly and soak them overnight with 1tb salt and enough water to cover. Next morning, drain salted water from the beans, add the water and the ham to the beans and simmer for 45 minutes. Meanwhile, saute salt pork and add onions, stirring. Add onion and pork mixture and potatoes to the beans. Cook until potatoes are tender. R emove from heat. Add chorizos.
