* Exported from MasterCook * Cheddared Tomato Soup w/Double Cheese Crouton Recipe By : Serving Size : 4 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Soups Cheese Breads Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 8 slices White or whole wheat bread -- remove crusts 2 tablespoons Butter -- soft 1 can Cheddar Cheese soup 1 can Condensed Tomato Soup 2 cans Milk -- soup cans 1/4 teaspoon Hot pepper sauce 2 slices Cheddar cheese -- 1oz ea 3 slices Swiss cheese -- 3/4oz ea Spread bread with butter on one side; set aside. In a large pan using a wire whisk, combine soups; gradually whisk in milk. Over medium heat, heat soup until hot, stirring frequently. Add pepper sauce, cover and set aside. In a large skillet or griddle over medium heat place 4 sl bread, butter-side down. Cover with Cheddar and Swiss cheeses, cutting to fit bread; top with remaining 4 sl bread, butter-side up. Cook until golden brown , turning once,, 1 to 2 minutes on each side; remove from skillet. Cut each sandwich into 1" squares.
