Add the flour and stir. Add cider slowly, stirring to blend then cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Transfer to a food processor or blender and puree. Add lemon juice and seasonings and taste; adjust as necessary. Return mixture to pan an bring to a simmer. Meanwhile, for the dumplings, beat the butter until soft. Beat and add the eggs. Stir in the rest of the dumpling ingredients. Drop the batte into the simmmering liquid, using a spoon. Cover the pan and simmer for about 7 minutes.
