                               Yam Ham Soup

   1                    Onion -- finely chopped
   3                    Leeks,chopped whites -- only
   1      tablespoon    Oil
     1/2  pound         Ham -- diced
   2      pounds        Sweet potatoes,peeled -- diced
   4      cups          Chicken stock
   1      teaspoon      To 2 tsp salt
     1/2  teaspoon      White pepper
                        Grating of nutmeg
   1      cup           Milk

Soften 1 finely chopped onion and chopped white of 3 leeks in 1 tbs.oil.
Add 1/2 lbs.diced ham,2 lbs.peeled and diced sweet potatoes and toss to coat.
Add 4 cups chicken stock,1 to 2 tsps. salt,1/2 tsp.white pepper and a grating of 
nutmeg.Cook until potatoes are soft.Remove 2 cups of potatoes,puree.Return to
 soup along with 1 cup milk.Heat through...
