* Exported from MasterCook * VALENTINE'S DAY CHOCOLATE MOUSSE Recipe By : Serving Size : 2 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Desserts Chocolate Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 1/2 cups Heavy cream 2 Egg yolks 1/2 cup Sugar 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla 2 tablespoons Water 3/4 teaspoon Plain gelatin 3 ounces Semisweet chocolate Place 2/3 cup heavy cream in a heavy saucepan and heat over medium heat until bubbles just begin to form around edge of pan and cream is warm; do not boil. Combine egg yolks and sugar in a bowl and whisk until smooth. Slowly pour 1/3 of the warm cream into the yolk mixture, whisking constantly, until cream thickens slightly. Continue to slowely add cream and whick until all cream is incorporated. Return mixture to pan and heat over medium heat until cream thickens slightly. When this sauce thickens, pour into a clean bowl, stir in vanilla and refrigerate. In a small saucepan, place water and sprinkle gelatin over water; let stand 5 minutes. Heat over medium heat, stirring until gelastin dissolves. Place semisweet chocolate in top pan of double boiler, place top pan over the bottom part of double boiler which has been filled with simmering water over medium heat . Let heat until chocolate melts. Remove top pot and let chocolate cool slightly. Stir warm chocolate into chilled vanilla mixture until smooth. Add completely dissolved gelatin and stir to combine. Whip 1 cup heavy cream and fold into chocolate mixture. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
