Direct Route to Heaven

 

FOUR TRUTHS

 

I.           “…All have sinned [missed God’s mark],  all fall short of God’s glorious standard.” (Rom. 3:23)     New Living Translation

II.         “…The wages paid by sin is death [eternal separation from God], but the gracious gift of God is eternal life through …Christ Jesus our Lord.  (Rom. 6:23) Williams Translation

III.         “In no one else can salvation be found.  For in all the world no other name [Jesus] has been given to men but this, and it is by this name that we must be saved.”  (Acts 4:12) Phillips Translation

IV.        "If you openly admit by your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord, and if you believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."  (Rom. 10_9)  Phillips Translation

 

 

PERSONAL NOTE

 

For approximately 30 years I never thought  seriously about heaven.  I assumed that my clean lifestyle and regular church attendance were the only ticket I needed.  Finally, through the concerns of my wife and a former college roommate, I began to personalize the first truth.  Truly, I was missing God’s mark.

 I needed to follow through on truths 2-4.  This meant asking Jesus Christ, in sincerity, for His guaranteed forgiveness and a desire to follow Him for a lifetime.  The result was/is a sense of Christ’s presence in my life, and I know I’m on the direct route to heaven.

God’s train has a reserved seat for everyone who follows His route.  How can there be anything more important in this life, or in eternity, than knowing one has a reservation on the heaven-bound excursion???
